About this project

The einstein tile is a single shape discovered in 2023 that can tile a plane infinitely without ever repeating. This duo project explored what that property looks like in physical form.

We researched the tile, then laser-cut a large number of einstein pieces from wood. By stacking and gluing them at varying heights, the non-repeating pattern produced something that looked organically like terrain: a physical 3D map with no two sections the same.
