This project was created for the Computational Creativity course of the Creative Intelligence and Technology programme at Leiden Univeristy.

In order to translate the ideals of co-creation into an actual system, we set out to create a customized story generator. This system showcases the harmonious partnership of human creativity with AI's narrative capabilities, allowing users to construct unique stories impacted by their genre selections and choice of artifact.

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) has changed the field of creativity, which was previously viewed as a purely human attribute. This report tries to investigate the developing topic of co-creativity, in which human beings and AI interact to forge an exciting new chapter in creative expression. This investigation, inspired by Ben Shneiderman's concept of "Creativity Support Tools," explores at how such technologies are not only facilitators but active players in the creative process. With the introduction of generative models such as GPT-3 and GPT-4, a shift in mindset has taken place, changing these digital collaborators from tools to partners.

The examination of the world of co-creativity has shown a space filled with potential, where the convergence of human and AI efforts can result in amazing creative outputs. The journey has shed light on AI's varied role in the creative process, demonstrating its ability not only to complement human creativity but also to contribute in previously unthinkable ways. The insights gathered from this investigation laid a base for future efforts in co-creative systems. As we work on the story generator, these discoveries will serve as guiding principles, highlighting the infinite possibilities that exist at the junction of human creativity and AI.
