Creative progamming

This project was created for the Creative Programming course of the Creative Intelligence and Technology programme at Leiden Univeristy. All of these were coded in Processing.

Many people believe that coding is only meant for specific simulations within the scientific community or for building websites. However, coding can also be a great tool for artistic and creative endeavours.

In the Creative Programming course, I completed a bunch of assignments using Processing to visualise and experiment with these possibilities. This was a very enlightening experience for me, as I hadn’t known that programming could be used in this way. This course opened my eyes to a new way of working with code, and it has influenced all of my subsequent projects, including Ghibbles and Remember Me, which became some of my bigger projects later that year.

  • Randomly generating a star night sky.
  • Randomly generating aurora.
  • Generating circles in tile patterns.
  • Generating circles in tile.
  • Recursively drawing circles.
  • Using oscillating functions, a star can be drawn.
  • Coding a small sketchpad.
  • A small game where you try to dodge pellets.
  • Careful of the eyes.
  • Confetti that uses a self-coded particle system.
